Cerith Wyn Evans The Curves of the Needle Artist Cerith Wyn Evans created a series of photos of the Mexico City home, studio and garden of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Luis Barragan. Evans also chose music from Barragan’s collection of hundreds of records, played the records on the record players which are found all over the famed architect’s former home (now a museum), and recorded the music with the ambient noise from the home. The result is a boxed set book and LP that gives the reader-listener a multi-layered experience of seeing Casa Barragan and hearing what Evans heard there, and probably what Barragan—who died in 1988—himself heard. The artist carefully lays one story over the other, showing details from the house and the lively Mexico City neighborhood surrounding it. Includes a fascinating conversation between Evans, Brigitte Huck and curator-at-large Hans Ulrich Obrist. English and German text. Cardboard box set with LP & softcover book, 12"x12", 88 pages, 28 color reproductions, 2006. SOLD OUT! |
