Cory Arcangel
(Beige)
First monograph by the New York artist Cory Arcangel. In his works,
Cory makes use of the 80's-era 8-bit Nintendo NES console, long since
overtaken by millions of bits, and "hacks" into its games.
The progress of some games is interrupted and short-circuited, and they
are reduced to their monochrome picture backgrounds, while other games
are given a new narrative. Includes a text by Raphael Gygax, as well as the source code for his Mario Clouds film.
Published with the Migros Museum in Zurich, Switzerland.
Hardcover, 165 x 235 mm, 128 pages, 88 color images, 2005.
